The PRS SE Paul Allender model electric guitar was built by Paul Reed Smith Guitars to the exact specs of Paul Allender, guitarist of Cradle of Filth. The guitar is made of mahogany with a gorgeous flamed maple veneer. It comes in two colors: the original Emerald Green Burst finish and the new Scarlet Red Burst finish.
The guitar has a 24 jumbo fret ebony fretboard, maple neck with Paul Allender Bat inlays instead of the regular PRS bird inlays. The bats definitely add a dark touch to the guitar and give it a cool Goth look.
The pickups really make this guitar. The EMG-90/81TW humbuckers really make for an incredible metal sound while still having a great clean sound from the neck pickup if you need it. The PRS SE Paul Allender also comes configured with a volume and tone control with push/pull coil taps and a three way toggle pickup selector. I prefer this configuration in my guitars as it makes for a ton of variation in sound before you even start changing amp or pedal controls.
The PRS Tremelo works really nice too. As long as you are doing crazy dive bombs for 10 minutes straight, it seems to stay in tune very well.
As with most PRS guitars, its hard to find anything to complain about! The neck is thin, the pickups scream and the finish is gorgeous! As if that wasn’t enough, you can buy one for well below $1000 and a deluxe gig bag is included! Musician’s Friend will ship it to most states for FREE and they have a money-back guarantee as well.
This final lesson with Paul Gilbert focuses on his approach to arpeggios.
